Transport

The DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama is situated at 163 Rathmines Rd Lower, Rathmines, Dublin 6, which is 3 km south of Dublin city centre. It is 25 minutes’ walk south of St Stephen’s Green (city centre), or a 5-minute bus ride away.

One of the easiest transport solutions is the Leap Visitor Card which can be purchased at the airport and various city locations. There are 24 hr, 72 hr, and 7-day cards available at €10, €19.50 or € 40 per person respectively. This card will give you unlimited travel on 747 & 757 Airlink Express, Dublin Bus, Luas Trams and Dart & suburban Rail services.

Alternatively, you can purchase a Dublin Bus 3 Day Freedom of Dublin City Ticket for €33 which covers unlimited use of 747 & 757 Airlink Express, All public bus services and Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tours (Hop-On Hop-Off information here)
Luas (tram), Dart (light rail) and Rail services are not included in this ticket. If you buy this make sure you print your voucher before you arrive in Dublin. You will need to redeem it at the airport.

To arrive at the Conservatory of Music and Drama by public transport we recommend you go to the journey planner website and enter from:’Dublin Airport’ to: ‘DIT Rathmines’ to get the best public transport option. (Also available as an app for iphone or android).

Google maps is also very good for public transport in Dublin.

Alternative options:

Airport to City Centre:

By bus: There are many public and private bus operators that go from the airport to Dublin city centre. See www.dublinairport.com

By taxi: a taxi from the airport to Rathmines may cost up to €50 depending on time of day/traffic. Taxis can be flagged down and there are taxi ranks throughout the city centre also.

By Aircoach:
The Aircoach to Dublin city centre (O’ Connell St.) is a direct and frequent service. A single ticket costs €6.00 and a return ticket costs €11.00 (online prices as of January 2016). Tickets can be booked online, bought at the Aircoach kiosks at Dublin airport (Terminals 1 and 2), or purchased from the driver when boarding the coach. From the city centre, there are several bus routes to Rathmines (detailed below).

City Centre to Rathmines:

By taxi: From the city centre (time and traffic permitting) a taxi should take about 10-15 minutes.

By bus: The following buses go from the city centre to Rathmines. Please note that change is not issued on Dublin Bus so have the exact fare (or as near to the exact fare as possible). Fare prices can be found on the Dublin Bus website.
From College Street (Beside Trinity College) or D’Olier Street: 14, 15, 15A, 15B, 15C, 65, 65B, 83A & 140 buses can be taken to Rathmines.

If you arrive on O’Connell Street, you are best crossing the Liffey River to D’Olier Street and proceeding as above.
